I know you must be very busy but I just wanted to pass on my thanks to you for the wonderful vacation that Kay and I had recently to India. Our guides, Sharma, and Hilal were over the top with their help and the information they provided to us. Kay and I have been on many tours with various agencies over the past but I can honestly say that this is one of the best that we have ever been on. India is a fascinating country and even though we just saw a little we are still left in awe. I just wanted to pass this on to you because many times no one ever lets you know how much your tour was appreciated. We will be back. Thank you, and all of your associates for giving us such great memories. Kay and Morris Golden

Hello, Nazir. I thought I would drop you a note with some comments on our trip to India. As you know, I was quite apprehensive about the trip before we left, partly because I knew it was going to be a completely new experience for us, and also because of the alerts about the unusually high levels of pollution and the demonetization announcement by Prime Minister Modi which took effect just before we left Vancouver. (From an outsiders point of view, it appeared that the people most negatively affected by this drastic move were the “have nots”, rather than those who were the primary target.) I will begin by saying that this trip was truly the most memorable travelling experience we have ever had. We will never forget the sights, the sounds, the people, the colour, the life. The biggest highlight for us was Varanasi (all aspects of the city and the sights, but especially going out on the River Ganges both in the evening and again at sunrise the next morning.). It was like stepping into a different world. I am so glad you suggested that we go there. It truly does have a spiritual feeling. A bonus for us was seeing parts of two weddings that took place at our hotel when we were there. We had never seen an Indian wedding before, and the decorations, music, and colourful dress were fun and entertaining to watch. The tour we took with our guide, Ada, to one of the slums in Mumbai was also an eye-opening and unforgettable experience. Seeing the recycling of mountains of “garbage; watching the men sewing fabrics in small rooms; having the children play and wave and smile at us (but not asking for money); observing the making of pottery and the use of what appeared to be homemade kilns; watching the preparations for a birthday party with many of the neighbours joining in to help; and on and on. We had expected an atmosphere of Despair, but instead felt that this was a vibrant, active community, despite the basic nature of the housing and the lack of so many amenities we take for granted. We have no way of knowing if this slum was representative of the many other slums which were apparent in some of the cities we visited, but we will not forget it. We also loved Jaipur and are glad we spent an extra day there. The elephant ride up to the Amber Fort with its wonderful views out over the countryside; the observatory with its enormous and precision instruments; watching the full process of carpet making including weaving, scraping, washing, burning of the fibers with a blow torch; and hand washing (hard work); another wedding which we spent watching by the pool at the beautiful Taj hotel; the street scenes with people, animals, merchants, crazy traffic – all of it was wonderful. We had expected to be impressed with the Taj Mahal in Agra (and we were), but we actually enjoyed the “baby Taj” just as much – fewer people, and our excellent guide pointed out the beauty in the chiseled flower and other patterns in the marble (and we later had a chance to see how this was done). Walking through Old Delhi was also a fascinating experience, as was our visit to the Sikh Temple, and the beautiful monuments and buildings in New Delhi. The Taj Hotels were great, and I doubt if we will ever see a more beautiful hotel than the Taj Palace in Mumbai. If I had to choose again, I would have chosen the Taj Hotel in Delhi, rather than the Meridian (which was very nice, but had more of a feel of a business hotel). Our guides were also great – all different, but really good at explaining what we were seeing and giving us the history of all the places we visited. It was hard to take it all in, but we really appreciated their enthusiasm. Special kudos go to our guide in Varanasi (Prem?) and in Mumbai (Ada?), but they were all good. Khalid was also very hard-working, sincere, and we really appreciated his extra efforts on our behalf throughout. We were very sorry about the additional work we caused when we left our suitcase at the airport in Mumbai and really appreciated the time and effort of everyone who helped us get it back. Anyway, this is a long story, but we really wanted you to know how much we appreciated all your ongoing encouragement and efforts, and those of the people who work with and for you. If it had not been for you, we never would have gone to India and we would have missed the experience of a lifetime. We will definitely tell all of our friends that Explore India is the way to go and that India should be on their bucket list. Many of our friends figured if we could do it, they could do it. And we did it! Thanks again Nazir. We hope to get back to India in a couple of years, and maybe Nepal (and Kashmir when it is more settled). At that time, we will be in touch. Best regards,

Keith and I also wanted to thank you and your whole team for the fantastic tour you organized for us in India, truly an incredible journey of the senses. What a unique and great country! As we mentioned to you before, it was one the best and most memorable trips we have ever experienced and we have travelled a lot. Your attention to every little detail and your extreme caring for us really made the difference. Everyday was a new highlight with its own thrilling surprises and enjoyment. Looking forward to a potential new adventure with you next year.

Dear Nazir, Not having travelled on a tour prior to this trip, Brian and I were a bit concerned about how the itinerary would work for the two of us who tend to be rather "foot loose and fancy-free”. Our interaction with you and Mandira, while arranging our tour, was very positive, so we were quite hopeful that the tour would be just right for us. Brian and I appreciated your attention to detail, to making sure our needs were met and especially your pre-trip phone call to answer any questions we had. Our positive interaction with Explore India continued with all the staff throughout India. Our first meeting with knowledgeable, efficient, and friendly Rajeev who so competently managed all the details throughout the tour and Harry, our erudite, articulate and enthusiastic guide quickly dispelled any concerns we had. Our drivers were quite wonderful, as they took us through the hectic crowded streets of Delhi, Jaipur, Agra, and Varanasi, and through the rural roads that were crowded with oxen and other animals, keeping us safe at all times. Our assistants, in particular, Amid, were charming, taking great care of us and always providing us with much needed cold water whenever we came back to the bus. Our tour was a small group, and we quickly meddled into a cohesive group, enjoying each other’s company and sharing in the delight of exploring northern India together. The tour suited us perfectly, no name tags to wear other than the first morning when we were introduced to each other, no flags to follow, rather just a group of travellers exploring together. The Impressions of India tour was extremely well organized and the itinerary provided us with the opportunity to see the majority of historical sites in the cities and rural areas we visited. India’s history is complex and the tour and Harry our guide provided us with many insights into the past world and architecture of the Mugals, Rajputs, Hindus, Muslims, Sikhs, Jains and Buddhists as well as providing many insights into modern India. All of the sites we visited were both impressive and moving, however, none more so that the shimmering beauty of the Taj Mahal in Agra. While we found the cities fascinating, the countryside and its people were more interesting to both of us. A request to stop by the roadside so that I could photograph the women working in the fields turned into an incredible opportunity to stop at a tiny village where we were able to interact with some of the villagers. I think the villagers were as intrigued with us as we were with them. I was very honored to be given a wee, naked baby girl to hold by a shy young mother. Throughout our trip, we continued to have opportunities to interact with the local people, which was a pleasure for all of us. It was quite interesting that in the rural areas, we were considered exotic, and as a result, a number of the locals asked us if they could take photos of us with their children. It didn’t seem to matter that our Hindi was limited to please and thank you and our only Urdu was thank you, or that many people we interacted with had no English, we were able to communicate with smiling eyes and with joy and appreciation for all the children we encountered. A highlight for all of us was an unplanned stop at a government-sponsored school in rural Rajasthan. We arrived just as the whole school, from kindergarten to high school was meeting in the hot, dusty centre courtyard. The children and teachers were thrilled to meet us and we were equally thrilled to meet them. We were introduced individually, including our occupations (or former occupations) and treated with much respect, especially Brian as a former principal, and Tina as a former mathematics teacher. Our decision to sing Oh Canada was completely spontaneous and utterly moving as the nine of us sang with great pride our national anthem to a rapt audience of students and teachers. Three teenage girls then sang the Indian national anthem with sweet young voices again to a rapt audience of staff, students, and Canadians. All too soon it was time to say goodbye as the students returned to their classrooms and we headed off to continue our exploring. Our hotels were luxurious with wonderfully attentive staff. The food was excellent wherever we were with a variety of curries and Indian specialties available at every meal. There was nothing better than freshly baked naan with each and every meal. Street vendors had small carts with the most interesting and delectable food offerings and as our stomachs grew accustomed to the Indian diet, and with our guide Harry’s direction, we were able to try some local specialties including deep fried vegetarian balls dipped into a spicy cilantro sauce, crispy potato samosas, refreshing plan in Varanasi, local sweets, and masala chai made with camel milk at a small remote tea stand. Indian culture is very different than our own and it was important to us that we not judge the people and their ways through our Western eyes but rather just let ourselves experience all that India had to offer. India is a rich and vibrant country that provided us with the most fascinating multi-sensory experiences and gave us just a small glimpse into its world and its warm and welcoming people. We feel very fortunate to have had the opportunity to have been there and feel equally fortunate to have found your Explore India company which provided us with such an incredible variety of experiences in a short period of time. We definitely could not have seen as much as we did without your fascinating itinerary. Returning home to a very rainy October, we are already thinking of returning to India, and of course, when we do, we will definitely be in touch to book another trip with you. With warm regards and much appreciation,

Hello Nazir, a short follow-up to once again say what a wonderful, lifetime memorable experience we had in India. The organization, the guides, the food and the hotels were all super. A special thank you to Rajeev, who kept so well in touch and was so attentive throughout our trip.

Thank you to Nazir, Manzoor, Raj, Ravi, Niraj and the many other drivers and people who all worked so hard to make ths dream a reality. We had an amazing 14 days in India and Nepal. We were very fortunate that Nazir suggested we take a direct Air Canada flight from Vancouver. We got to Delhi in just under 14 hours arriving on Thursday which gave us an extra 3 days there before joining the tour group on Sunday. During that time we saw the Lotus temple, the Akshardam Temple, the Lodhi gardens, the memorial to Mahatma Gandhi and the Qutb Minar as well as other temples and Mosques. These monuments together with seeing the Jama Mosque and the Chandni Chowk area on Suday were the highlight of our stay in Delhi, and suggest that these be included in all tours of the City. We also especially enjoyed our stay in the Suryaa Hotel, not just because of the wonderfull hospitality there, but also because it is located right in the heart of the local market. This gave us the chance to wander about getting to know how the locals live there without the distraction or the influx of tour buses. We also went to see the Nizamuddin Market and the Nizamuddin Dargah there, and had an awsome dinner at Karim’s on the day of our arrival. We were hoping to take part in the evening devotional music there, but that didn’t seem to work out. Maybe next time! There were many highlights throughtout this tour, not to distract from the Taj Mahal which was more stunning than I could have imagined when it first came into sight. All the accomodation, meals, transportation and the drivers, helpers and guides were all first class. Nepal was another high light, especially our stay in Nagarkot and the drive up there. Nires was a delight to have with us and very informative as was Ravi on our India leg of our journey. The only other suggestion I have here is that we would have liked to have arrived in Nagarkot early enough so that we would have had time to go on a short hike on the famous Panoramic Hiking trail I heard about. Over all I have no complaints and only good memories on our amazing journey in India and Nepal. What I would say in a short review, or you can post this entire e-mail if you want, are my comments below: This was a personal road trip Manzoor and Nazir would take their families on, Expect to expect the unexpected! You will be sirprized, delighted, amazed and even stunned, but never disappointed. Through out our journey eveything was so well thought out and perfectly executed. Thank you to everyone who worked so had to make this a trip of a lifetime. Our memories will be with us forever. I am sorry we took so long in replying to you. I came down with Delhi Belly after I got back to Canada!!!! We want to thank you for the most amazing trip of our life. It was so beautifully arranged. First of all Mandira thank you so much for all of our pre-flight information, booking our seats together and everything else you did to make this trip unforgettable. Nazir: Your company is the absolute best for touring India. The hotels we stayed at were super, except I have very long legs and beds that are about 2 feet off the ground and toilets that are low were a little challenging!! I managed but was extremely happy to get back to my very high bed! The food and care we received from Rajan greeting us at the airport, 4 very tired and shell-shocked individuals to taking us safely to our hotel. His presence throughout was a comfort. The best part was Ravi. What a very knowledgeably, thoughtful and considerate guide. He became a part of our family very quickly. He was always helping Mom, Marg Ann and it truly felt like we always being taken care of. Ravi anticipated that we needed to make bathroom breaks and lunch breaks on our trip. I am a diabetic and needed to eat regularly. He made sure the places were good for us to have a break and eat something. He herded us like cats through the various sites, helped us to get to an ATM and cross the street together in Delhi, Agra and Jaipur. I feel like I should get a t-shirt made saying” I survived crossing a street in India!” When he took us to our various shopping places he left us alone to do our stuff but if we needed an opinion or advice we could ask him. The saddest part was him leaving us in Kathmandu. Niraj was great, a young Ravi in training. We completely understood but we did feel a little lost. We were split up during our flight back to Delhi and my husband never got any lunch on Jet. Ravi would never have let any of that happen. I have recommended your company and the tour to everyone. My brother in Malaysia is interested. We wish you great success in all that you do and would like to tour with you again. I wish that you would work in other areas as I would trust your company any day. I was a little apprehensive at first but your company more than delivered. Your brother, Mansoor in India was our money exchanger to anything that was needed in-between. Explore India was awesome both in Canada and India. Our friend Colin was a Buddhist Monk and had helped the Drepung Gomang Monastery in Karnataka. They wanted to build a stupa for him and when I spoke to our friend he said that I could courier the ashes to the Monastery. I had no problems taking it out of Canada, unfortunately the no couriers would handle the urn. I spoke with Ravi and he spoke with Mansoor and I had 2 options. Neither of which were viable. So Colin made the trip with us to Kathmandu. With Ravi and Niraj’s suggestions we released him into the Ganges at Pashupatimath Temple. We were very happy to accomplish this. The Monastery has also said it was exactly what Colin would have wanted. I tell you this so that you can understand the depth of the compassion of your employees, now friends. Thank you so much for everything and we wish you great success in all that you do. Yours Truly Corinne & Mike

Thank you for the lovely message welcoming us home! Our tour to India was fantastic! We had a wonderful group of fun, enthusiastic and outgoing traveling companions. Tom and I were happy that we had chosen to arrive a day early as it gave us a chance to rest up before the tour, do some exploring on our own and also meet some of the others on tour. I must say, that we were very impressed with the way that we were greeted and escorted throughout the trip, from the warm welcome we had on our first day with Manzoor and Raj to the last drop off at the airport traveling home. We even took advantage of exchanging Canadian dollars into rupees using the “Karnai Bank”! Every detail was looked after. Our guide for the northern portion of the tour, Ashish, was the perfect host; knowledgeable, accommodating, and entertaining. The experience of seeing the historical sights, sampling the various dishes and immersing ourselves into this colourful culture exceeded our expectations. We can’t say enough about how well the itinerary was planned with enough time to see the sights and enjoy some down time back at the hotel. We found the accommodations to be top notch, comfortable, offering a wide selection of food items and almost all had free wifi available. We were pleased to have had the opportunity to see both the north and south of India. Thank you Nazir for suggesting the additional tour to Kerala. It is a totally different side of India that we would have otherwise missed. We absolutely loved the beautiful mountain vistas of the terraced tea plantations and the time spent on the houseboat touring the backwaters was magical. What a great way to end our stay! The only suggestion that I can offer at this time is to build in some extra time at the beautiful resorts in which we stayed. It would have been wonderful to take advantage of the services they offered, especially at the Spice Village Resort. I would like to take this opportunity to thank you Mandira for helping us organize this excursion and for helping us navigate through the process of acquiring an Indian visa. Thank you also to Nazir and the whole Explore India team both in Canada and abroad. This was truly a most memorable tour and a trip of a lifetime! Thank you! Dhanyavaad!

Some very late feedback on our tour. We had a great tour and would like to thank you for all your efforts. Our accommodations were very good, the van very comfortable and the driver most helpful and fun to be with. Rajeev was in constant contact and available to assist and advise. The Taj Mahal exceeded expectations and Ranthambore was an unexpected highlight. Thanks again and best wishes for a healthy, happy and prosperous new year.

Sorry for not sending you an email earlier to thank you for planning our unforgettable tour of India. Our accommodations were wonderful. Upon arrival at each hotel we were greeted by friendly and helpful staff. Our driver Suresh, was amazing, getting us through busy city streets and never once did we feel unsafe with his driving. All guides were very professional and knowledgeable of all the areas we toured. We had many wonderful experiences with local people and trying local food. Being in India for Diwali Festival and joining a local family for dinner at their home was one of our highlights. Jerry and I truly feel this was a trip of a lifetime and tell everyone they should see India. We are now down in Arizona and have some friends that are interested in taking a trip to India. Would it be possible for you to email a copy of our itinerary for them. Appreciated all the work you did.

No company is big or small when you have 100% capability of exceeding guest expectations. A rating of 10 out of 10 does not adequately reflect the level of the experience and value of the tour that we provide to India especially for the first time visitors. Explore India’s success can be traced all the way back to those early days of learning what it means to be a host and to this day, our motto is to treat the guest like a member of the family. A sure testimonial to the business, given the fact that many Canadians have travelled not one, not twice, but three times with Explore India, the early teachings seem to have paid off, as touring to India with us is a sought-after experience in Canada and beyond.
