Day 5:
Delhi – Udaipur By Flight | Cruise to Jag Mandir
In the morning, transfer from the hotel to the airport for your flight to Udaipur a city that combines real beauty with a picturesque association of a great and glorious past. It stands in a valley, amidst green hills on the banks of the wide, steel blue Lake Pichola. On little islands in the lake, from the water’s edge, rise marble palaces of pure white that glisten like fairy castles. Crowning the ridge in which the city clusters, along the shore of the lake, is the palace of the Maharana. Possibly no city in Rajasthan is quite as romantic as Udaipur and is replete with fantastic hilltop fortresses, exotic fairy tale palaces, and gripping legends of medieval chivalry and heroism. Udaipur rivals any of
the world’s famous creations of the Mughals with the Rajput love of the whimsical and its superbly crafted elegance.
Later this afternoon we will explore this glimmering lake, the mountains, and the city against the backdrop of a beautiful sunset. Along the way, see historical landmarks dotted along the shore such as the City Palace Complex and the picturesque Ghats – steps leading down into the water that locals use for bathing.

In 1727, with Mughal power on the wane, Jai Singh decided to move down from his hillside fortress at nearby Amber to a new site on the plains. He laid out the city, with its surrounding walls and six rectangular blocks, according to the principles of town planning set down in Shilpa Shastra, an ancient Hindu treatise on architecture. The locally available stone, white marble, and black stone have been used as materials for construction. What adds to the beauty of this grand creation is the depiction of trumpeting elephants and horses scenes from Puranas and pictorial
depiction of characters as well as some social scenes drawn in a series on high. Free time for shopping.

Hello, Nazir! Tonight we will be leaving India for Canada and both Hans and I want to thank you personally and your team in India for a marvelous time here. It has been a trip that we will never forget having seen such interesting places in India and having been witness to a totally different and very interesting land and culture compared to the one we know back home. We understand now why you are so passionate about your motherland and its people. We will not forget the people here, the smiles of school children and others, their warmth, kindness, sincerity and hospitality. How we enjoyed all of the excursions and we were so lucky and took delight in seeing a mother tiger and her three cubs along with riding an elephant at Red Fort in Jaipur! We enjoyed your local guides here very much and our guide throughout the trip Ashish. What a wonderful man, humorous, entertaining and knowledgeable! Your team leader in Delhi Rajeev has also been very supportive and kind as well and of course nameste to the many other players such as our amazing bus driver, his helper and your drivers to get us back and forth to the airport etc. as they have been exemplary! We were so well received and taken care of! Thank you also for the upgrade to The Grand New Delhi Hotel for our final days as it was not expected. It is very beautiful here and has allowed us time to rest before our departure home. We have come away with new friends too having met other Canadians on this visit, with whom we enjoyed many laughs! May you, and your team continues to thrive and be successful in the years to come. We cannot recommend you more highly. Many Thanks, Sincerely

I thoroughly enjoyed my trip to India. I have been on many trips and this one will be at the top of my memory list. We saw so many different aspects of India and Explore India made sure all my needs were met and I was very comfortable. The tour company’s part in the trip was excellent, efficient and pleasant. We could always count on the program being carried out in a timely manner. Rajeev was beyond helpful to my sister Carol and I am truly grateful to him. He spent many extra hours caring for her. I will certainly recommend the trip and Explore India.

FEB 09, 2018: We had a glorious holiday and were so impressed with our guide Shah. His knowledge was formidable and he was a most delightful host. He took really good care of everyone and the trip was over before we were prepared to give it up. We regretted not booking an extension. We certainly plan to return to India and shall be looking forward to seeing your itineraries. Thank you so I much for all the planning on your side. It is not under appreciated by us. Ann

Thanks for your note. We had a wonderful time with Ravi and a real nice bunch of fellow travellers who all became friends. Ravi's knowledge base and teaching background really made it perfect for me I am nearly impossible to information overload. We were very impressed with the details and attention provided to even the smallest things, like the return trip to the airport, someone loading us on the bus, driven to airport then someone there making sure we got the 60 feet to security, very comforting and part of the Explore India service we will point out to our friends as we talk about our trip. The hotels were all superior quality and the destinations were well selected. There is likely no way to reduce the hours on the bus with the current itinerary, it may have seen a bit much at the time, but there is no real alternative in order to get to the selected destination, having been back for a day I actually enjoyed seeing the landscape. If you have anyone asking for a previous travellers recommendation you are absolutely free to give them my cell number, I promise I will give you a 100% positive recommendation. From start to finish this was a first class operation and we found it to be super value for money. Torben

Thanks Nazir, we are back tired but entirely satisfied! Where do I start? You have a tremendous team working for you in India, including Raj, our guide in Darjeleen and of course Ardvid (please excuse my spelling). Not only were we fully informed about what we were seeing but they all added interesting info regarding the religions, history etc. I give Ardvid a 42 gun salute (Trust you know what this means with him). What a beautiful man! Went out of his way to satisfy everyone, one of our friends, Val Frost hurt her foot, he obtained a rickshaw for her twice. Always first on there when meeting us and always counting, does herding cats come to mind. The tour was spectacular! Know I understand the phrase Incredible India. Extremes are mind boggling, from extreme poverty to extreme wealth. The driving! The cows! The people! (we were stopped constantly to have pictures taken with locals. Always a friendly smile, a wave. Once instance a school group stopped and sang the Indian National Anthem for us. Hotels and meals super! The only downside was no tigers at the preserve but to show Ardvid, in Jaipur tried to show us all leopards to make up for lack of tigers, but unfortunately, only one car of the group saw them. Another example of his need and wish to please all. Thank Raj for arrangements for our last day. Worked much better than the original plan. We had two awesome drivers and Raj was always there, even to the point phoning all three groups the night before our departure and then again in the two cars on our way to the airport. One downside was the interesting move of the Prime Minister on the night we departed, canceling 500/1000 rupee notes. I know Errol got stuck with a couple but I recommended he mail the rupees to you so you could arrange a donation to charity. Please feel free to use me as a reference Nazir if necessary. You and your group were wonderful from the time we booked until our return. If you need any clarification regarding the above please let me know but a big THANK YOU again from two extremely satisfied guests.

Namaste Nazir I had been thinking of dropping you a note so thanks for your message. The trip was a great success. The weather was perfect, no mosquitoes and the group were very convivial, really great travel companions. I hope to keep in touch with some of them and perhaps travel with them in the future. The drivers were fantastic; they managed the crazy road up to Darjeeling and in particular, Mr. Singh in Delhi and for most of our long bus journeys, was absolutely amazing. Don’t know how they do it, I had to close my eyes half of the time!!! It was a wonderful soft entry to India to spend time in Darjeeling, relatively less trash and garbage strew about, blue skies and clean air. Mr. Lo Chan was very hospitable. Our guide, Mr. Sandeep Singh was fantastic; professional yet caring and considerate, his commentary was informative and fun as he is passionate about India and all things to do with Indian culture. He did everything he could do to make our trip safe, enjoyable and generally a memorable experience. I felt he went above and beyond his duty to keep us informed and calm when we were unable to access cash machines. The hotels were good as was the food. On the whole, I am very glad I went with Explore India on this trip. It has not only given me an appreciation of the challenges India faces, but also shown me the amazing resilience and friendliness of its people. Sincerely

My mother and I wanted to send a heartfelt thank you for a wonderful and memorable trip to India. It was so beautifully planned – it is very clear you have put much thought and preparation into these trips. Rajeev was an excellent escort – he was very attentive and saw to our every need. He made a big fuzz over Mom for her birthday – which she said she didn’t want but I think secretly enjoyed!! In addition, he was such a comfort and help to poor Carol, who unfortunately had a medical emergency. The service was above and beyond, in every way! I would highly recommend Explore India to anyone looking for a well run, quality tour in India. We loved every minute of it!
